AJL is my independent playground for exploring artificial intelligence, mathematics, new technologies, products and possible companies. It is not a consultancy, a formal organisation or a business offering services.
I use the lab to follow ideas before they fit inside a brief or business plan. Early signals become questions; questions become experiments; and some experiments become real projects. I am always happy to start a conversation with anyone who brings a different idea, difficult problem, unusual discipline or point of view.
THE NAME
Three initials.
My personal compass.
AJL stands for Alma, Juno and Linus—my two daughters and son. Their names give the lab its identity and remind me why imagining the future matters.
The connection is personal, but the purpose is forward-looking. I want to approach new technology with curiosity, responsibility and the courage to make possibilities tangible. The name reminds me to keep asking what kind of world I am helping to create.

Synthetic Natural Food is an active AJL project exploring the boundary between machine imagination and human appetite. It moves through generative images, speculative ingredients, instructions and physical artefacts—asking what becomes natural when the synthetic is part of everyday life.

Before AJL had a name,
I was already following the line.
Streaming, production, visual culture, health technology, market intelligence and applied AI. This is not a complete archive or a trophy cabinet. It is a selection of ideas made real—and of what each one taught me.

How I
choose to work
The first explanation is rarely the most interesting one.
A working fragment can teach more than a polished theory.
Judgment, taste, context and responsibility are part of the technology.
The best work often appears between disciplines, not inside one.
Unfinished thinking has value when it creates better questions.
05 / PEOPLE
My lab.
Many minds.
AJL is personal, but I do not believe interesting work happens alone.
For each project, I invite a different constellation of multidisciplinary talent: artists, researchers, engineers, designers, strategists, philosophers, scientists, craftspeople and specialists who understand the territory better than I do.
There is no permanent AJL team or company structure. People gather around a question when the chemistry is right. I am equally interested in conversations that become projects and conversations that simply change how I think.

I am learning how AI changes the distance between an idea and its first expression.
I am testing new creative workflows, studying the role of taste and judgment, building small things, speaking with people who see problems differently, and keeping notes.
ABOUT ME
I’m Lluís Pallarès.
I build and scale technology-led businesses, and I have spent my career moving between entrepreneurship, leadership, investment and innovation.
My experience includes roles as a founder, chair, managing director and board member across AI, data, deep technology, digital products and disruptive businesses. AJL gives me a space outside any one company or mandate—a place where I can pursue an idea because it is intriguing, important or simply too early.
I like conversations with people who think differently: founders, scientists, mathematicians, artists, designers, engineers, investors and specialists from fields I have not encountered yet. You do not need a polished proposal. A difficult question is often enough.
